Description
The objective of the High Performance Computing Program is to become an internationally recognized Center of Excellence
in applied HPC development, utilization and education. The HPC Program will contribute to the strategic plan of Purdue
University through integration with the Rosen Center for High Performance Computing, Discovery Park’s Cyber Center,
contribute to interdisciplinary projects and training integral to Purdue’s Discovery Park, and elevate Purdue’s role
in the education and utilization of distributed and multiprocessor computer systems. Graduates of this program are
destined to serve as leaders in the development and utilization of HPC systems across all scientific, technical and
business domains. Through outreach to industrial and CoT partners who are producers and consumers of HPC technologies,
the CIT HPC program will develop a nationally recognized program in the practical application of HPC technologies to
improve the ability of statewide and regional business to complete and help to enhance statewide economic development.
The mission of the HPC Program is aimed at achieving the program’s vision, by (1) establishing an interdisciplinary
curriculum that provides world-class training in HPC systems at both the architectural and utilization level, and (2)
utilizing the computational and information capabilities of HPC to support discovery research and development in
bioinformatics, computer graphics, information security, nanotechnology, product design and manufacturing, computer
science, physics, and STEM educational outcomes.
