Director:
Robert G. Bruce, brucer@purdue.edu

This teaching lab provides undergraduates practical application of physical measurement techniques, including size, form, and location. The laboratory is a climate-controlled, precision measurements laboratory of approximately 500 square feet.

The laboratory serves the following courses:

  • MET 141 (Materials and Processes I)
  • MET 242 (Manufacturing Processes)
  • MFET 400 (Manufacturing Engineering Technology)
  • MFET 243 (Automated Manufacturing Processes)

Key equipment:

  • Coordinate measuring machine
  • Laser micrometer
  • Optical comparator
  • Profilometer
  • Sine plate
  • Gauge blocks
  • Surface plates
  • Surface and height gauges
  • Conventional and digital handheld measuring instruments
  • Variety of fixed thread, ring and snap gauges
