Robert G. Bruce, brucer@purdue.edu
This teaching lab provides undergraduates practical application of physical measurement techniques, including size, form, and location. The laboratory is a climate-controlled, precision measurements laboratory of approximately 500 square feet.
The laboratory serves the following courses:
- MET 141 (Materials and Processes I)
- MET 242 (Manufacturing Processes)
- MFET 400 (Manufacturing Engineering Technology)
- MFET 243 (Automated Manufacturing Processes)
Key equipment:
- Coordinate measuring machine
- Laser micrometer
- Optical comparator
- Profilometer
- Sine plate
- Gauge blocks
- Surface plates
- Surface and height gauges
- Conventional and digital handheld measuring instruments
- Variety of fixed thread, ring and snap gauges
