Sustainable Manufacturing Lab

The Sustainable Manufacturing Lab is designed for classroom activities and research involving green materials and processes and materials testing.
Students develop an understanding and appreciation for the importance of green materials and processes and materials testing. Upper‐level undergraduate students and graduate students conduct labs that stress a myriad of concepts in sustainability. Graduate students work on research in materials testing and green materials/processes.

Research application:
The lab has been used to complete both sponsored programs projects/funding and Purdue Technical Assistance Program projects for industry.
Lab equipment:
- Laminar flow hood
- lab fume hood
- various direct‐reading instruments for environmental characterization
- a differential scanning calorimeter
- a tensile test apparatus
- various materials testing instrumentation
- four student computer stations.
