Graduate
The College of Technology (CoT) offers the Master of Science degree with several different options available. The degree offers a nonthesis directed project plan of study that concentrates on professional development in:
- engineering technology
- industrial technology
- or industrial technology education.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) and Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MFET) participate in the CoT graduate program by offering graduate courses, directed graduate projects, and supporting graduate assistantships. All CoT graduate degrees are offered and administered through the College of Technology's Graduate Program.
Plans of Study
Each graduate degree plan is unique to the individual student and his/her background, experience, and degree objectives. Each degree candidate will be appointed an advisor from the graduate faculty to assist with program planning.
Advisors are assigned based on a review of the candidate's application materials. Candidate requests for a specific advisor are accepted but not guaranteed. Once a candidate is admitted to the graduate program, the advisor becomes his/her most important contact person.
The master of science plan of study has a minimum requirement of 30 semester hours of course work and 3 semester hours of directed project (TECH 598). Each candidate's plan of study will ultimately be directed by the advisory committee.
Assistantships
A limited number of graduate research and teaching assistantships are available in the MET Department and MFET. Additional appointments are available within the CoT and other schools of the University. Most graduate appointments will ordinarily be for no more than one-half time.
