Admissions

Applications are reviewed on an individual and holistic basis. First and foremost, applicants must be prepared academically for the rigors of college and the academic demands specific to the Purdue University College of Technology at New Albany. Admission generally is governed by the same criteria applied to students seeking admission to the West Lafayette campus.

Applications will not be evaluated until the application itself and all required materials are received. For most freshman applicants, required material includes the high school transcript, an SAT or ACT test score (including writing), and the application fee.

  • Strength of student's overall high school curriculum

  • Class rank
  • Overall grade point average
  • Core grade point average
  • SAT OR ACT score sent from the testing agency
  • Ability to be successful in intended major
  • Information provided by high school guidance counselor (or other school administrator)

Subject Matter Requirements

  • Math-Beginning with students applying for 2011 enrollment, Purdue will require eight semesters (four years) of high school math. View comprehensive list of acceptable math courses.
  • Laboratory Science* - biology, chemistry, physics, earth/space science, physiology/anatomy, etc.
  • English - grammar, composition, literature, speech, and vocabulary, but not journalism, newspaper, yearbook, or theatre arts.

Indiana Residents Only

Purdue strongly encourages Indiana students to pursue the Academic Honors Diploma.

 

For transfer students who have coursework at a post-secondary institution:

  • Grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale -or equivalent
  • High school diploma
  • In good standing at all schools previously attended
  • Meet subject-matter requirements

For adults who have been out of high school five years or more:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Admissions decisions are made on an individual basis, taking into consideration such factors as a student's work history, military service, high school record, previous academic or vocational coursework, etc.
