Faculty and Staff Profiles:

Getting to know Qingyou Han

Qingyou Han, associate professor of mechanical engineering technology

A faculty member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology since 2007, Qingyou Han came to Purdue from Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee. He earned his doctorate in materials science from Oxford University and his master’s degree in metallurgy from Beijing University of Science and Technology. He completed his undergraduate work at Wuhan Institute of Technology in China. Recently named one of this year’s Outstanding Tenured Faculty members in the College of Technology, Han speaks proudly about the accomplishments of his students. He advises the American Foundry Society chapter at Purdue.

News Briefs:

Integration of information technology support finalized

On January 19, 2011, the integration of TCN into ECN agreement was finalized and signed by both Dean Dennis Depew of the College of Technology and Dean Leah Jamieson of the College of Engineering. The new organization supporting the information technology needs for the College of Technology is ECN; the TCN terminology will no longer be used.

5th annual Tech Week planned for April 9-15, 2011

The College of Technology will celebrate its fifth annual Technology Week April 9-15 with the theme “We are Technology Makers.” The week is filled with a variety of activities to showcase how the college's faculty, students and alumni are having an impact on society.

Technology teams take top two places in entrepreneurship competition

The top two undergraduate teams in the 2011 Burton D. Morgan Business Plan Competition are from the College of Technology.

In the News: Columbus students helping conserve sculpture

College of Technology students at the Columbus location are assisting a local company with restoring "Chaos I", a seven-ton large sculpture located at the Columbus Commons.

The Republic newspaper in Columbus featured their work in a recent article.

For the month of January, the College of Technology received external funding that totaled $502,739.

Student research, judges sought for annual symposium

The Undergraduate Research and Poster Symposium will be Tuesday, April 12, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. in North and South Ballrooms of Purdue Memorial Union. This annual event is sponsored by the colleges of Science, Engineering, Technology and Agriculture and showcases undergraduate research.
