Student Endeavors

  • Students from the Purdue University College of Technology locations at Anderson and South Bend recently were certified as Six Sigma Green Belts from the American Society for Quality.

  • Kip Goulder, a student in the Department of Building Construction Management, was a winner in the Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. Student Chapter Essay Competition. Goulder was honored for his essay titled "Analysis of the 2008 Presidential Election and its Potential Effect on the Construction Industry." He received $1,000 to be used toward student chapter activities or to offset travel costs.

Company led by CGT student takes top prize at business plan competition

Mission MatchUp, led by computer graphics technology student Kristeen Hudson and Brian Paplaski, a management student, won the $20,000 first prize in the Black Division for Purdue undergraduate students.

MET group places second at Rube

The MET Rube Goldberg Team, the Garage Junkies, competes at the regional competition.

The Garage Junkies, a team made up of four students in mechanical engineering technology, placed second at the regional Rube Goldberg Machine Contest on Feb. 21 at Purdue.

Students headed to Germany on spring break

Fifteen students in Henry Kraebber's MFET 499 (Manufacturing in Germany) course will spend their spring break seeing the sights of Munich, Germany.

County recycling center gets Web site

Students at the Purdue University College of Technology at Anderson have developed a Web site for the Madison County Recycling Center that allows customers to get all the information they need to use the center's services.

Purdue offering two summer guitar-making workshops

Purdue will offer two separate workshops this summer for those interested in making their own electric guitars.

Purdue students learning how creativity is used in the workplace

Students at the College of Technology at Anderson this semester are learning, direct from business professionals, how to go beyond traditional management training to solve problems in the workplace.

Jody Pierce, assistant professor of organizational leadership and supervision, is teaching OLS 350 (Creativity in Business) this semester to 15 students. She said it is the first time it has been offered at the Anderson location.

Faculty, graduate students, and staff are invited to become a judge for the annual Undergraduate Research Poster Symposium on April 21.
