Order out of 'Chaos'
College of Technology students at the Columbus location are assisting
a local company with restoring "Chaos I", a seven-ton large sculpture
located at the Columbus Commons.
The student involvement in the project is being led by Lucian Silvian, visiting assistant professor of mechanical engineering technology.
The Republic newspaper in Columbus featured their work in a recent article.

Corum helping VA hospitals improve efficiency
|
Christine Corum’s work with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs could have far-reaching effects on the nation’s healthcare delivery system.
Corum, an associate professor of mechanical engineering technology, has been working since last summer with one of the agency’s four Veterans Engineering Resource Centers (VERC) to help improve access to medical care for veterans.
“I love process improvement,” Corum said. “Lots of people work in broken systems. It is rewarding to show them how to use basic engineering principles, to problem solve, to change the system so it works better and meets their needs and the patients’ needs.”

French nominated for Professor of the Year
|
Mark French, associate professor of mechanical engineering technology, was the College of Technology nominee for the 2011 U.S. Professor of the Year award. Each College had only one nominee forwarded to the University level selection committee.

Hutzel featured on Purdue Difference Makers Web site
Bill Hutzel would love to see a future where houses adjust to their
inhabitants using automation systems that strike a balance between
energy efficiency and human comfort. And so, in addition to his own
research in sustainable energy sources, including photovoltaic and solar
heating, Hutzel is building a house.

Study abroad trip to Germany led by Professor Kraebber
A group of 15 students from the College of Technology traveled to Germany to tour
several manufacturing companies and to learn about the German culture.
