Solar Decathlon team featured during Purdue Day at the Indiana Statehouse

The Solar Decathlon team was featured during Purdue’s Alternative Energy Day at the Indiana Statehouse on Tuesday, March 23.

This was an opportunity to showcase university-wide research and engagement in the energy field for legislators, public servants, and the general public. The picture shows MET graduate student Lee Causey and Sarah Miller, an undergraduate student in interior design, with a scale model of the IN Home. The home features highly efficient SIPS wall panels, advanced mechanical systems and appliances, and a photovoltaic array on the roof to generate its own electricity.

It will be constructed on the Purdue campus in early May, tested over the summer, and then shipped to Washington, D.C., in September for head-to-head competition with teams from 20 universities.
