Gary R. Bertoline started his appointment as dean of the Purdue College of Technology July 1.
Bertoline, who has been at Purdue since 1990, was previously associate dean for graduate studies in the College of Technology, distinguished professor in the Department of Computer Graphics Technology, professor of computer and information technology, and executive director of the Center for Professional Studies and Applied Research (ProSTAR).
“I’m really excited about the opportunity to serve the college as its dean,” Bertoline said. “I look forward to working with faculty, staff and alumni to help lead the nation in the definition and preparation of the 21st century technologist.”
Bertoline worked closely with former dean Dennis Depew to ensure a smooth transition.
Bertoline replaced Depew, who is returning to the faculty after serving as dean for the last nine years.
“I truly want to thank Dean Depew for his leadership and years of service. I’ll be building off of a great foundation created by him and the college’s previous deans,” Bertoline said. “Just as Dean Depew talked about ‘standing on the shoulders of giants’ during his tenure, he will now become another giant who has raised us all up as we look to the future.”
