Statewide locations reaching out to veterans

As part of a larger effort to recruit veterans to enroll at Statewide Technology locations, a student and location director attended a two-day symposium titled “Transitions: Battlemind to Home” in March.

Jack Head, assistant director of the College of Technology locations in Columbus and Greensburg, and Jim Wolfe, president of the Columbus Student Veterans Association, learned about challenges for veterans and their families as they transition home, re-enter the work force, and pursue a college education.

“One of the reasons Jim and I attended was to identify employment, educational and interpersonal barriers to re-adjustment,” Head said.

He and Wolfe attended breakout sessions to identify the community resources needed to help student veterans successfully matriculate and obtain financial support from their college and the government.
