Digital Cinema Contest

Chris Borer, a computer graphics technology major, was one of five students to win a top prize in Purdue's seventh annual Digital Cinema Contest Premiere Night and Awards Ceremony April 23. His film, “Rags and Roger,” won the award for best animation.

The awards ceremony also featured a world premiere of Digital Cinema Contest alumnus Tyler Kupferer's short film "Duck <3 Teslacoil." Kupferer, a CGT alum, is studying for his master's degree in film and television at Savannah College of Art and Design.

Undergraduate Research and Poster Symposium

Four College of Technology research projects won awards at the 2009 Undergraduate Research and Poster Symposium April 21.

Award winners were:

  • College of Technology Dean’s Choice Award: Thomas Lesczynski, Aeronautical Engineering, “Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) in Aerospace MRO”
  • College of Technology Student Choice Award:  Joe Gerace, Computer Graphics Technology, “Testing the Effectiveness of 3D Data Rich Models versus 2D Manuals in the Scenario of Airport Maintenance and Overhaul”
  • Third place in Innovative Technology/Entrepreneurship and Design: Mike Alder, Matt Dechow, Tyler Rieke, Natassia Williams, Computer Graphics Technology, “Integrating Facilities Management Information with a Building Information Model”
  • Third place in Life Science: Luke Boly, Laura Kocur, Alex Sellenberg, Eliska Lim, Computer Graphics Technology, “Development of an Educational Web site on Swine Lameness”
