Although I am sad to see that my good friend and great leader, Dr. Robert Cox, left our department’s chairmanship, it is an honor to serve as the interim leader of Building Construction Management (BCM) at Purdue University. As a 30-year member of the BCM faculty, I will be working to sustain the positive momentum of our department. Our faculty continues to provide excellent instruction, conduct relevant research, and provide services. Our students are engaged in rigorous and meaningful coursework and internships that links the classroom to the workplace.
We are pleased with the success of our BCM student organizations enriching the academic experience. These organizations are working together in numerous volunteer opportunities, locally and globally. Whether leading weekly study tables or coordinating community service projects, these students are learning to lead and serve.
We also rely on the leadership and guidance provided by the members of our Construction Advisory Council (CAC). The council is made up of national construction industry leaders who advise us on our curriculum and keep our faculty connected to developing industry trends. This relationship has created one of the nation’s leading programs in construction and we appreciate the support and input our industry partners so generously provide.
Our work together, will help to build and strengthen the BCM family, which include students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the construction industry. It is our pleasure to serve them all.
Zarjon Baha, Ph. D., P.E.
