Purdue University Grants College Credit for PLTW Courses

The Departments of Building Construction Management and Industrial Technology at Purdue University are pleased to announce their acceptance of Project Lead The Way credits.  A maximum of 12 credit hours of these courses may be used in any of the Departments’ undergraduate majors: Building Construction Management, Industrial Technology, Industrial Distribution, or Engineering/Technology Teacher Education as either technical electives or general electives.  Noted below are the approved PLTW courses and the IT course equivalent.

PLTW Biotechnical Engineering

IT 101: Biotechnical Studies
PLTW Aerospace Engineering IT 102: Aerospace Studies
PLTW Civil Engineering & Architecture IT 103: Exploring Civil Engineering & Architecture
PLTW Introduction to Engineering Design IT 105: Introduction to Engineering Design
PLTW Digital Electronics IT 106: Digital Electronics
PLTW Principles of Engineering IT 107: Principles of Engineering
PLTW Computer Integrated Manufacturing IT 108: Computer Integrated Manufacturing

      

 In order to receive credit, the following criteria must be met:

  • High School must be PLTW certified

  • Student must complete the course with an 85% average

  • Student must complete the course portfolio

  • Student must score at least 70% on the PLTW college examination

  • Instructor must be a licensed technology education teacher (AERO, CEA, CIM, IED, POE)

  • Instructor must submit test score to the Department of Industrial Technology

  • Student must enroll in a Department of Building Construction Management or Industrial Technology major

Credit will be posted to the student’s transcript during their first semester at Purdue University.  Contact the departmental office for additional information.
