Custom ECET107 and ECET157 Lab Workbooks for South Bend
For several years the first-year analog electronics students used a nationally published workbook to guide their lab experiments. Although the general content of the workbook was good, many of the specific details (e.g., lab equipment) did not match the actual laboratory experience. The course instructor, Professor Harding, wanted to create a complete and customized lab manual for each course.
Fortunately, a couple of enterprising undergraduate students, Ben Kazora and Rob Smethers, accepted the challenge. Professor Harding got the publisher's permission and provided critical coaching and guidance, while Ben and Rob did the bulk of the work to create the first ever ECET107 and ECET157 lab workbooks customized specifically for the South Bend laboratory facilities.
Both students learned a lot from the experience, and were happy to help out the college. Professor Harding now has a lab workbook that he can "tweak and tune" on a weekly basis to improve the labs. Moreover, the three have written a paper on the experience that has been accepted for presentation and publication at the 2008 ASEE Annual Conference and Exposition (click here to see the paper). Great job guys!
