As he was searching for a college, Anthony Najem sought career advice from his employer, an architect. He was told that the construction industry was in great need of a liaison between the trades, subcontractors, and architects/engineers. That advice, coupled with visits to Purdue, led him to the building construction management program, which he chose for its reputation and diverse coursework.

As chief executive office of Meyer Najem Corp., Najem is responsible for its strategic plan and approval of the annual operating budget. He stresses high levels of safety, quality, and service for the firm, which offers general contracting, construction management, and design/build services. Meyer Najem built the foundation of its business with healthcare construction, and it has expanded to include a wide variety of building projects and an annual volume in excess of $100 million.

For 22 years, his company’s projects have been recognized with the Award of Excellence from Associated Builders and Contractors. For the last two years, the Fishers, Indiana, Chamber of Commerce also has named the company its Business of the Year. And in 2005, the Association of Fundraising Professionals honored Meyer Najem with the Outstanding Small Business Philanthropist Award.

In addition to operating a successful business, Najem plans to continue coaching and mentoring the next generation of construction industry leaders.

Prior to starting his own business, Najem worked for Houston Lighting and Power and Power Systems Engineering.

Najem and his wife, Liza, live in Fishers, Indiana. They have four grown children.
