What influenced you to choose BCM?

The Building Construction Management (BCM) program is leading the nation in terms of hands-on labs, use of state-of-the-art technologies and, recently, professional designations available at the undergraduate level.

Incoming students should know:

What we actually do is supervise the construction process from a set of plans to a finished product. We would most likely be wearing a shirt and tie as much as hardhat.

What are three of your favorite things about BCM?

  1. Our BCM labs are invaluable to the learning process, and they help our students to really stand out from the rest when we go on internships or interviews. We start in our 100-level classes learning how to operate equipment that you would not have access to if you weren’t one of our students. We also learn methods that give us the knowledge to speak intelligently with employers and work well in the field.
  2. The BCM program at Purdue University is known for being innovative. The staff do a tremendous job of consistently being ahead of the curve, and they are always looking to better prepare their students for the working world. We have a unique opportunity here, and all the students know it and take advantage of it.
  3. The BCMentors program is one of my favorite things about my program of study. This organization really helps underclassmen adjust to college life, and it provides upperclassman with a way to give back to the BCM program through mentoring. They provide free tutoring for construction specific classes, go on construction activities and field trips, help prep for job fairs, do volunteer work, and provide one-on-one mentoring with upperclassmen.
