Barb Alder is the Location Director for the College of Technology at Purdue University, Anderson and Muncie, IN. Prior to joining Purdue, Alder’s career spanned 26 years with GTE (now Verizon Communications), moving through positions of increasing responsibility in internal audit, network and customer service operations, metrics and performance reporting, municipal affairs, and regulatory planning and strategy. She brings expertise in corporate regulatory compliance, supervision and staff development, and marketing. She also has some prior experience in higher education administration, having served in Admissions and Financial Aid at Hanover College prior to joining GTE.
Alder has been active in the communities where she resides, including Anderson. She serves as a SCORE small business counselor with the Anderson Chapter #519 and on the Hanover College Alumni Association Board of Directors. For several months in 2008, she worked for Habitat for Humanity of Madison County, helping that organization to develop enhanced business processes and to increase the community’s awareness and support of their programs. In 2008 she also served as a tutor at Alexandria Middle School. Over the course of her career, Alder has volunteered with many organizations including United Way, Junior Achievement, Broad Ripple Arts Fair, Indiana Repertory Theatre, and she served as President of Keystone Crossing Kiwanis Club in Indianapolis.
She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from Hanover College and a Master of Science degree in business administration from Indiana University.
