AT Graduate Program Mission and Philosophy

Mission Statement

The mission of the graduate program in Aviation Technology is to prepare students to demonstrate leadership potential in aviation industry professions and to advance the knowledge of research, application, and teaching within the aviation and aerospace management discipline through applied research, publications, presentations, and teaching by the faculty and students.

Philosophy of the graduate program

The graduate program in aviation technology encompasses multiple core competencies which guide faculty and student endeavors. The faculty and students strive to promote creativity in their approaches to teaching and learning, in their selection of research topics and methodologies, and in their problem-solving strategies. Communication is promoted through a student’s program through the use of presentation opportunities, group projects, and written products to disseminate information related to scholarly activities.

The faculty promotes the development of aviation industry leadership potential through engaging coursework and research activity. A common thread apparent in the core competencies of this degree program is the use of ongoing aviation industry projects and case studies to develop analytical, decision-making, and communication skills. In addition, students and faculty are challenged to actively develop and manage discovery and engagement activities. The skills and activities presented promote comprehensive preparation for aviation industry leadership.
