Job Description:
As a growing plumbing contractor, looking to expand in the Chicago metropolitan area,
we are currently searching for an experienced Commercial Plumbing Estimator who excels in the use
of computerized (windows based) mechanical estimating software.
Duties and Responsibilities:
--Estimating: Compile material and labor requirements for each job take off and apply mark-ups for
bidding.
Use computer programs where applicable for estimating purposes.
--Blueprints: Able to read and make material take offs from plans using mechanical estimating software.
--Maintain cost keys and price updating information.
--Review of the project bid documents for interpretation.
--Subcontractor solicitation during bidding process.
--Work with sales team to integrate final estimate into proposal for presentation to owner.
--Follow-up sales calls on each job bid.
--Communicating with general contractor's project managers and superintendents on design changes,
value engineering, budget variation, and scheduloing.
--Maintaining organized work files that will include a complete set of plans, specifications, cost codes used on the job,
construction documents, engineering reports (if applicable), contracts, change orders, and job communications (memos, etc.)
--Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications.
--Team player who can do what it takes to get the job done.
Qualifications:
--Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related discipline.
--Must have a minimum 5 years of both hard bid and conceptual estimating experience.
--Knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook.
--Good organization and communication skills.
--Knowledge of construction principles/process.
