Position:
Assistant/Associate Professor of Building Construction Management, or rank commensurate with experience.
Strategic Initiative:
The Department of Building Construction Management is developing a specialization at the undergraduate level in disaster restoration.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will develop, and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in disaster restoration and participate in professional construction societies. The candidates will show potential or experience of research and grant writing. The candidate must have experience in managing disaster restoration. The candidate will perform applied research and participate in scholarly activities. The candidate will develop industry and government relationships in the area of disaster renovation.
Qualifications:
Successful candidate will possess a minimum of a Masters Degree, Ph.D. preferred in Construction, Engineering or related fields. Professional construction industry experience in a free market economy is required. The candidate will have an ability to communicate with contractors in the disaster restoration industry and with students who are interested in careers in this specialization.
Salary and Rank:
Competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Appointment:
Ten-month, tenure track. Starting August 2007.

General:
The Building Construction Management Department has been fully accredited by the American Council on Construction Education since 1979. We have over five hundred students, with sixteen full-time faculty, and three professional assistants. The department is located in a modern facility which includes laboratories that are well equipped with up-to-date equipment for teaching surveying, materials, estimating, project management and construction methods. The department emphasis is on excellence in undergraduate education and the development of an industry supported graduate program. Students are prepared to work in all areas of construction and can specialize in mechanical, electrical, residential, health care construction, or demolition and reconstruction along with the general construction curriculum. The faculty includes past presidents of the Associated Schools of Construction, national officers in Sigma Lambda Chi and several winners of national excellence in teaching awards.
