CGT 290I: Digital Pre-Press Production and Print Media

In this new course offered at the Kokomo and New Albany campuses, students will explore the entire printing process, from pre-press production to finishing techniques. There is detailed examination on designing both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional print pieces (either black and white or full color) using professional page-layout, illustration, and image editing software, management of fonts and files, and comprehension of all steps of the printing process.

Further topics include binding, folding, varnishing and spot color, die cutting, paper, the ability to read and understand printers quotes, the roles of the designer, the roles of the printer, packaging, and the necessity of creating a professional portfolio. The course supervisor is Sara Porter and prerequisites include CGT 111 & 211.
