Welcome our New Department Head!

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Marvin I. Sarapin as our new department head. He comes to Purdue University from Kean University in New Jersey . As some of you may remember, Marvin was at our spring IAB meeting while on sabbatical leave from Kean.

Dr. Sarapin obtained his bachelors and masters degrees in Industrial Arts from State University College at Buffalo and his Ph.D. at Iowa State University in Industrial Education. He is currently an Epsilon Pi Tau Board and NAIT Accreditation Board member.

Strategic Plan Update

Since the Spring IAB meeting the CGT faculty has met with Deans Melissa Dark and Mary Sadowski. Faculty divided the task of revising and updating the strategic plan into the areas of 1) faculty, 2) curriculum, 3) engagement, 4) applied research, 5) development, and 6) graduate studies. Certain baseline metrics have been established while others are in the process of development along with specific goals for the next year set with an implementation plan.

The date for finalization of these metrics was pushed from May to the end of July in response to the hiring of new CGT Department Head Dr. Marvin I. Sarapin, who begins his tenure on July 1st. After a discussion with relvant parties it was decided that Dr. Sarapin will work with the CGT faculty in the upcoming weeks in order to further refine the Strategic Plan.

It is the goal of the CGT faculty to have the Strategic Plan plan finalized by the end of July, who feel that it will allow the Department to move forward. Should any IAB members have suggestions or thoughts related to the Strategic Plan feel free to contact Marvin Sarapin or Craig Miller.
