Jamie Mohler Returns to CGT

Professor Mohler returned full-time to the CGT faculty this fall. In January of 2003, he assumed an administrative appointment as a Senior Research Scientist in the central information technology group called Information Technology at Purdue (ITaP). At ITaP, Mohler began by working with Dr. Gary Bertoline in the new Envision Center and then was called upon to lead the Informatics group shortly thereafter. Composed of an eclectic mix of people with backgrounds in computer science, computer graphics technology and computer technology, the primary mission of this group was to serve as the web development entity for ITaP while also providing strategic direction for the web at Purdue University.
Shortly before his return in August, Mohler also completed his commitment as the conference chair for SIGGRAPH 2005, where he had the pleasure of working with a talented group of 13 program chairs from across the world to bring about the 32 nd annual conference. With an attendance of nearly 30,000 and over 2,000 content contributors, the conference included talks by world-renowned storyteller and producer George Lucas and other well-known speakers in computer graphics and interactive techniques. As part of this task, James had the pleasure of serving with Assistant Professor Ronald J Glotzbach, who served as the Student Volunteers chair, and Nishant Kothary, a CGT graduate who served as the Web Program chair.

Professor Mohler is happy to be back in the classroom, integrating his experiences from ITaP and SIGGRAPH into his teaching.
