Purdue University under the leadership of President Jischke has been pursuing a strategic plan titled The Next Level: Preeminence since November 2, 2001. According to President Jischke " This plan will take not only Purdue, but also the state of Indiana , to the next level of excellence." The College of Technology Strategic Plan developed under the leadership of Dean Dennis Depew identifies the strategic goals and metrics for the College in the 2003-2007-time period. |
| An important indicator of excellence in learning calls for all College of Technology Programs to be accredited by 2007. The CGT Strategic Plan identifies the commitment of the department to undergo the accreditation process for the baccalaureate degree program housed on the West Lafayette campus. During the fall 2005 semester the CGT BS degree program has preparing a comprehensive self-study required as a prerequisite for consideration by the Board of Accreditation of the National Association of Industrial Technology ( NAIT ). The Council on Higher Education Accreditation ( CHEA ) recognizes NAIT as the accreditation body for technical managerial programs in technology. The CGT Department has requested an accreditation visit for March 29-31, 2006. Currently NAIT accredits 104 Baccalaureate level programs in 51 institutions and 138 Associate level programs in 28 institutions.
The accreditation process employed by the CGT department assures continuous program review and improvement to help assure the department's goal of being the preeminent program in applied computer graphics technology. During the spring 2005 semester the CGT faculty, staff, and advisory board members conducted a validation study of the stated student learning outcomes for the required and elective CGT courses in BS degree program. The CGT faculty and advisory board are currently reviewing resulting outcomes data for future curriculum consideration and accreditation documentation. There are several other activities underway in preparation for the accreditation campus visit. A follow-up study of recent CGT BS degree graduates is being conducted. Faculty members are preparing course documentation for review. A three-member accreditation visitation team will meet with the Computer Graphics Technology Industrial Advisory Board on Friday March 31, 2006 during the regularly scheduled IAB spring campus meeting. The NAIT Board of Accreditation will act on the accreditation team's recomendations in November 2006. |
