Fee Deferments

Fee deferments are forms that students must fill out to defer any tuition and lab fees for the semester. Deferments are issued to students eligible for financial aid and student loans, or if there is a third party paying for all or part of their tuition. Deferments are also issued to students who are dependents of employees of Purdue University.

Types of Fee Deferments

Financial Aid

Financial aid is awarded to fully accepted students who have met the requirements from filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The deferment will defer all tuition and lab fees for that semester. Financial aid does not cover the parking and activity fees which must be paid before the tuition due date. If the students are not awarded enough financial aid to cover the tuition and lab fees, then Purdue University will send the students a bill in the mail. If the students have more than enough financial aid to cover the cost of tuition and lab fees, then the students will receive a check in the mail from Purdue University or Purdue will direct deposit the excess funds into the students' bank accounts.

Third Party

A Third Party deferment is issued to students when an organization is paying their tuition and/or lab fees. This organization can be an employer or a government agency i.e., WDS or Vocational Rehabilitation. A voucher or a letter from the organization must be presented for the deferment process each semester the students are in attendance with Purdue University.

Staff Dependent Fee Remission

If students are a dependent of a Purdue University employee, the students may receive a fee remission. In order to receive the fee remission, an application must be filled out by the Purdue employee and then given to the Columbus/Southeast Indiana main office. The applications can be obtained from the Columbus/Southeast Indiana main office.

When do I fill out a Fee Deferment?

Students need to fill out fee deferments every semester they are in attendance with the Purdue University College of Technology at Columbus/Southeast Indiana. The deferment must be completed before the tuition due date of each semester. Students must bring a copy of their bills to fill out the fee deferment.

If you have a question about the deferment process, please call the Purdue Columbus/Southeast Student Services at 812-314-8526 or stop by Suite 1200 in the Columbus Learning Center.
