Commencement Information
Commencement for fall 2008, spring 2009, & summer 2009 candidates is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, 2009. The ceremony will begin promptly at 6:00 pm and be held in the Columbus Learning’s lecture hall. Please note, the Columbus Learning Center (CLC) lecture hall only seats 200 people, so each graduate participating in the ceremony will be allowed 10 tickets for guest invites to the ceremony.
A reception for graduates and their guests will be held in the CLC student commons immediately following the ceremony. The reception will end at 8:00 pm.
Graduation Details
Academic Attire
Graduates participating in the commencement ceremony must be dressed in the appropriate academic attire.
Associate degree candidates will receive a grey gown; Bachelor degree candidates will receive a black gown. All participants receive a year dated red tassel. Graduates may pick up their academic attire from the Columbus PCoT student services office the week of May 4th.
Purchase of Caps & Gowns
The cap, gown and tassel purchase price is $21.60. Cap & gown order forms must be completed and returned to the Columbus PCoT Student Services office by Friday, March 13, 2009. Graduates will need to make their check or money order payable to Oak Hall Cap & Gown.
Announcements
Graduates can order the announcements through the Balfour website and click on Purdue University Graduation Products which directs them to the announcements website or go directly to www.cbgrad.com and click on Purdue College of Technology to order announcements. The Columbus CoT student services office has a graduation announcement display board set-up in the CCEC lobby area for graduates to view sample announcements.
Class Rings
To order Purdue class rings, graduates can go to the Balfour website at www.balfour.com and order Purdue rings or call Balfour Customer Service at 866-225-3687.
GPA's for Distinction & Highest Distinction

Any 2009 Spring/Summer student expecting to graduate (even if you do NOT plan to participate in commencement) should contact PCoT Student Services in Columbus Office to make sure your name is listed as a candidate. All candidates MUST provide PCoT Student Services in Columbus Office with a valid email address as this will be the most efficient way of communicating with you.
Fall 2008 graduates please note that final degree audits are currently being completed by the West Lafayette (WL) Academic Departments. Once all requirements have been met and the degree conferred in the WL system, the WL registrar’s office will mail the diploma directly to the student’s home address. Graduates please view your myPurdue account to ensure the appropriate mailing address is on file.
