Biography:
Guity Ravai joins CIT as a part time instructor in 1996, and then as a full time Continuing Lecturer in 1998. Guity has an MS degree in Computer Science from Purdue University, and a BS degree in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Software from the Sharif University at Tehran, Iran. Guity has more than five years of experience working in industry, and has taught as an instructor in the department of Computer Science at Purdue from 1985 to 1989. Currently she teaches all the programming service courses for the department. These courses are promarily Visual Basic, C, and C++, which are open to students from all across the University. Research Interests- Women and Minority in Technology - Poster presented in the annual convocation of the College of Technology in spring of 2006 - In spring of 2003, I conducted a survey in local high schools to study how the students perceive themselves in mathematics and science based on gender. Although four local high schools were contacted, only two schools participated. The study conducted through a questionnaire which consisted of ten questions. The data was collected, tabulated and analyzed. The result of this study was made into a poster and was presented among the posters in the annual convocation of the College of Technology in spring of 2006.
Hobbies, Outside Interests, and Personal Links- I have numerous hobbies, among them are playing the piano, reading books, watching good movies, gardening, hiking, listening to music, pottery, and beading.
