Robert H Moser ATP-MEIProgram Manager
Campus: West Lafayette Biography:Robert H “Bob” Moser assumed management of the Holleman-Niswonger Flight Simulation Center for Purdue’s Aviation Technology Department in June 2011 and also serves as a Pilot and Instructor in the Phenom 100 Jet program. In his 30 years of flying, Bob has flown over 75 different aircraft, ranging from jets to gliders and everything in between. His certifications include ATP in multi engine aircraft, Commercial Pilot in single engine and gliders, Certificated Flight Instructor in airplanes and gliders, Tail-wheel Instructor and glider tow pilot. He also holds Advanced and Instrument Ground Instructor certificates (AGI & IGI). He has been an active CFI with several Heartland flight schools, including the LeMay Flight Center on Offutt AFB. Bob is a certified p135 Charter Pilot and holds a BS in Aviation Studies from the University of Nebraska – Omaha. He is one of the region’s most active ground instructors, specializing in safety of flight, pilot refresher courses, glider operations and youth aviation education programs. Bob was nationally recognized in 2008 for his work in aviation safety education and flight training practices with the "Safety Representative of the Year Award" by the FAA's pilot safety program in the six-state Central Region. His other aviation activities have included; Nebraska Aviation Council Board President, Lead Representative for the FAA’s Safety Team, VP of the Omaha Soaring Club, Young Eagle pilot w/ 400+ missions, columnist for aviation periodicals, pilot service duties for UNL’s CALMIT remote sensing research program, ground / flight instructor for Omaha Public Schools and the Home Educators Network and presentations for the EAA Speaker’s Bureau. He also provides WWII era flight instruction in his beloved vintage 1941 J-5 Piper Cub Cruiser, which first flew just a few weeks before Pearl Harbor. Mr. Moser started his professional career in Illinois as a mechanical engineer, earning (6) US Patents. He served for 15 years as Executive VP of a $35 million manufacturing company, served as COO for an internet service business and served as VP Marketing for a professional engineering firm in Minneapolis. He left his 25-year corporate career behind to enter the aviation industry in order to “to make a life instead of just a living”. Bob is also an avid stage performer, singing and acting in a wide range of venues, and has appeared in numerous local and national radio and television commercials. |
