Biography:
Matt is Director of Research Relations for the College of Technology at Purdue University where he markets academic discoveries to companies, entrepreneurs and government and seeks their support for collaborative research. In addition Matt manages engagement, corporate relations and government relations for the College. His focus is cultivating relationships and innovations that result in impact and solve pressing challenges while creating entrepreneurial activity and educational opportunities. At Purdue, Matt is focusing on advanced health information, sustainable energy and mobile technologies. He is also a strategy and IT consultant and serves on the boards of two companies.
In addition to his background in high tech, business management, economic development and government, Matt has extensive international, executive and entrepreneurial experience. He served as CEO of CMS-Katra and Executive Director of Katra Healthcare for the Katra Group. Matt started Procter & Gamble’s (P&G’s) operation in Portugal and while at P&G’s corporate headquarters in the USA helped P&G implement leading edge CRM, supply chain, ERP and database systems. He started and sold two high tech firms, one in Europe and the other in the USA. Matt has also led international trade missions to Europe and Asia.
Matt served the people of Indiana as mayor of Kokomo, Indiana where he was recognized by The US Conference of Mayor’s, the National League of Cities and the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns for quality of life improvements. Matt also earned a fellowship on “Governing in the Global Age” at the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University.
He graduated with highest distinction from Purdue University and was later honored by Purdue as a 2005 Distinguished Alumnus.
