Biography:

Dr. Sarapin has served as Professor and Head of the Computer Graphics Technology department since July 1, 2004 and has over 35 years of experience in Higher Education. He received his Ph.D. from Iowa State University in 1977 and his M.S. and B.S. degrees from the State University of New York, College at Buffalo in 1973 and 1970. Sarapin first joined the Purdue University faculty in 1978 after serving as the Maryland Vocational Curriculum R&D Center at the University of Maryland and a prior assignment as an Instructor at Iowa State. He then returned to his home state of New Jersey where he served as the Chair for the Department of Technology at Kean University. Since returning to the College of Technology Sarapin has taken the CGT undergraduate degree through accreditation by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE), championed the development of the Master of Science in Computer Graphics Technology and the combined 3+2 B.S/M.S. degree program in CGT. Dr. Sarapin is a Certified Senior Technology Manager (CSTM), an Accreditation Team Chair, Certified Curriculum Consultant, and member of the ATMAE Board of Accreditation. He has also held leadership positions in Epsilon Pi Tau -Technology Honor Society, the International Technology Education Association, and the Council for Technology Teacher Education and is a past recipient of the ITEA Outstanding Young Technology Educator Award. Sarapin has served on the Board of Examiners for the National Teacher’s Examination-PRAXIS and has been a state and national program reviewer. Marvin has made numerous conference presentations and has contributed to the literature in technological education over his career and is the current editor of the Journal of Technology Studies (JOTS). Sarapin has technical education teaching experience in public school, trade and industrial education, union, and industrial training in addition to his years of University teaching and administration.
