Admissions Requirements : Degree Seeking

All applicants must graduate from high school or have a GED.

Beginning Students

Admission to Purdue University is based on quality, which includes class rank, SAT-I or ACT scores, grade point average in degree-related courses, probability of success, trends in achievement, strength of the college preparatory or Tech Prep course work, and information provided by your high school counselor. All College of Technology applicants must meet minimum subject matter requirements:

• English (8 semesters)
• Mathematics (6 semesters of academic math)
• Laboratory science (4 semesters)

High school students completing Core 40 requirements will satisfy Purdue minimum requirements.

Students who are home schooled or who graduate from a non-accredited high school are strongly encouraged to take SAT II tests in English, math, and lab science.

Reminder: An offer of admission to a high school student is contingent upon his or her successful completion of senior courses. A significant downward trend in a student's senior grades could result in the cancellation of the offer of admission. Conversely, if admission was denied, applications can be re-evaluated if there is a significant improvement in senior grades.

Application Deadlines

For admission to one of Purdue's degree programs, applicants must submit the completed application, along with official transcripts, to

at least 30 days before the start of any given semester.

Transfer Students

To qualify for admission, transfer students must meet high school and college subject matter requirements, have a 2.5 accumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale, and be in good academic and disciplinary standing at all colleges previously attended. Transfer students follow the same admission procedures as new students. Credit for courses will be given for work of equivalent character and amount successfully completed at another regionally accredited college or university; credit is converted into terms of Purdue University courses and applied to the program of study.

International Students

Admission requirements for international students are similar to those for beginning out-of-state students with three exceptions:

• The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), G.C.E. or G.C.S.E. "0" Level English language exam, or SAT verbal score is required.
• Financial aid is not available for beginning students.
• Admitted students must pay a one-semester fee deposit.
