Aviation Management
Students completing the first two years of the Aviation Management Program receive an Associate in Applied Science degree and are qualified to assist in the operation of airlines, airports, and airport service industries. Most of the students who graduate from the two-year Aviation Management degree program pursue the BS degree.
Students pursuing a BS degree will receive additional specialized instruction in aviation and other areas like accounting, supervision, and economics. Those students also will complete a three-course sequence ending with a capstone course in airline management, airport management, or air traffic control. As part of their degree requirements, all Aviation Management students take five selective courses from a variety of course offerings in one of the following option areas: airline management, airport management, or air traffic control.
Special programs are available to students in several areas:
- Purdue is one of 23 colleges in the country to offer coursework leading to potential hiring by the FAA as an air traffic controller.
- Students may pursue courses leading to eligibility to take the Certified Member Examination of the American Association of Airport Executives.
