John Mott
Professor Mott holds Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Electrical Engineering from The University of Alabama. He is also the holder of an FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument and Multiengine ratings, an FAA Flight Instructor Certificate with Airplane Single-and Multiengine and Instrument ratings, and an FAA Ground Instructor Certificate with Advanced and Instrument ratings. He holds type ratings in the Hawker Beech King Air 300, Hawker HS-125, and Canadair Challenger 600. He has worked as a flight instructor, a charter pilot, chief pilot, and director of training for a FAR 135 operator, an airline pilot flying the SA-226TC Metroliner, and a corporate pilot in many different models of aircraft.
Professor Mott's research interests are in the areas of statistical modeling of flight and airport operations, application of innovative electronics technology to flight operations and aircraft design, aviation management, aviation safety, aviation meteorology, and human factors. Prior to coming to Purdue, he was Engineering Manager for a firm in Birmingham, Alabama, and also operated an electronics design and manufacturing business for many years. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), the University Aviation Association (UAA), and the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).

Matt Edwards
- Limited Term Lecturer Edwards holds an Associate Degree in Aviation Flight from Vincennes University and a Professional Pilot Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana State University. He is a Commercial and Instrument Certified Flight Instructor and has been flying for more than a decade. Continuing Lecturer Edwards has been sharing his knowledge and experience with Purdue students for almost 3 years.
Martin Rielage
Limited Term Lecturer Rielage holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from University of Cincinnati and a MBA from Lewis University. He also has 17 years experience as a safety inspector with the Federal Aviation Administration, FAA. Continuing Lecturer Rielage has been sharing his knowledge and experience with university students since 1996.
