Job Description:
Serve as the Purdue University lead faculty member for the Vincennes Statewide Technology location, reporting to the Department Head of Industrial Technology at the West Lafayette College of Technology on academic issues and to the Statewide Technology Regional Director at New Albany for operational and budget issues.  Teach technical course content related to industrial technology/operations.  Conduct the affairs of the location in accordance with the plans and policies of Purdue University and the College of Technology.  Work closely with the Department Head and the Statewide Technology Regional Director to provide support of the program.  This is a ten month appointment (negotiable to eleven).

 

Responsibilities:

Academic Related

Teach technical courses required to support the Industrial Technology Program.

Support the Department Head, Statewide Technology Regional Director and Dean to encourage excellence in teaching and engagement for all location faculty and staff.

Work with  Department Head, Statewide Technology Regional Director and Vincennes to schedule classes for the location and coordinate proposed teaching loads.

Supervise the academic advising of students for the location.

General Administration

Conduct the affairs of the location in accordance with all academic policies and procedures of Purdue University.

Serve as the initial Purdue College of Technology point of contact at Vincennes University for schools, community groups, and businesses desiring information about, or partnership with, the College’s programs at Vincennes.

Develop, in consultation with faculty and appropriate department heads, and enforce policies, practices, and regulations in accordance with the plans and policies of the College of Technology.

Responsible for requesting supplies and materials for location and provide input for budget allocation.  

Maintain the interface between the locations and the host institutions, and any other organizations.

Prepare reports and other information requested by the College of Technology administration.

Work with administration to plan for location commencement ceremony and provide relevant information to the Associate Dean for Statewide Technology

Perform other administrative duties requested by the Department Head of Industrial Technology at the West Lafayette College of Technology and to the Statewide Technology Regional Director at New Albany Dean, and/or Associate Dean for Statewide Technology.

Engagement and Development Activities

Establish and maintain an active industrial/community advisory board.

Maintain an on-going community relations program with local business, industry, public schools, and other post-secondary institutions in concert with Purdue University and contract institutions.

Support placement activities for location graduates with Vincennes administration.

Maintain relations with Purdue location alumni in accordance with University guidelines.

Required Qualifications: 

Minimum qualification is a Master’s Degree from a Department of Education recognized accredited university (doctorate preferred) in a field directly related to industrial technology. Minimum of three years U.S. industrial and/or business experience.  Ability to teach technical course content related to industrial operations technology in six of the following areas:  statistical quality control, industrial safety, industrial supply chain management, automatic identification and data capture, industrial ergonomics, automatic data capture, engineering economy, total productive maintenance, production planning and/or facilities design for lean manufacturing.  Possess excellent administration, communication, organizational, presentation and people management skills, and have a strong commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level.  Must place students at the center of attention and serve as a mentor as they seek to achieve their career goals.  Must be cognizant of cultural diversity and work positively in an inclusive environment..
