Welcome
The Department of Industrial Technology at Purdue University offers a Study
Abroad Program with Griffith University, Queensland, Australia. One of the key
characteristics of this program is the integration of the program into the
Technology Education curriculum of both institutions. The Study Abroad Program
will also benefit the approximately 4300 students in Purdue’s School of
Technology (SoT). Most curricula in the SoT have technical and free elective
requirements. Therefore, the courses taken under the Study Abroad Program can
be applied toward degree requirements in several SoT departments.
Purdue University’s goal is to increase Study Abroad student participation
and also to increase the number of opportunities abroad. Griffith University
is one of the two Australian universities that offer baccalaureate degrees in
technology education. Griffith has been involved in the preparation of
technology education teachers for nearly 20 years. Their program is recognized
internationally, and their faculty members hold leadership positions in the
International Technology Education Association (ITEA). By participating in the
program a student will be exposed to other races, cultures, and ethnic groups,
as well as other educational systems, thus providing a good education at the
undergraduate level.
