Microprocessor and Embedded Controller Certificate

Purpose
Individuals who complete this certificate program will acquire the basic knowledge and skills for applying embedded controllers to products in their technical/engineering discipline.

Target Audience
This certificate program is designed to meet the needs of individuals working full-time who are looking for skill enhancement in microprocessors and embedded controllers. Individuals desiring to pursue this certificate program should have a degree in electrical engineering (EE), electrical and computer engineering technology (ECET), or a closely related field. It is anticipated that individuals with a B.S. in EE or ECET should only have to take CPT 285, ECET 209, and ECET 309. Individuals with related degrees or no degree may have to take up to and including 28 credit hours.

Admission
An adult student may begin taking classes in this certificate program as a non-degree student. Non-degree status is limited to a maximum of 7 credit hours per semester. A non-degree student may accumulate no more that 18 credit hours prior to application for regular admission. Formal admission will be required to complete the certificate. Courses already completed as a part of a degree program at an accredited university will be considered for meeting the course requirements for this certificate. Transfer credit will be determined as part of the formal admission process. A minimum of 8 credit hours in ECET 209 and ECET 309 must be earned at this campus.

Certificate Program
Students must receive at least the letter grade of a "C" in each course in order to complete the certificate. Individuals with a B.S. in either EE or ECET should only have to take 11 credit hours of the required 28 credit hours of course work.
