The Applied Energy Laboratory is located in two rooms on the fourth floor of Knoy Hall. It has approximately 1800 square feet and accommodates up to thirty-six students in a modern laboratory environment that can also be used for classroom lectures. Along with a variety of equipment for teaching lab-based undergraduate thermal and fluid science courses, the facility also features computer controlled heating and cooling systems that mimic the types of equipment found in modern commercial buildings. The pictures below highlight solar energy equipment that is used for teaching and applied research projects.
The laboratory serves:
- MET 220 (Heat Power)
- MET 313 (Applied Fluid Mechanics)
- MET 382 (Controls & Instrumentation)
- MET 421 (Air Conditioning and Refrigeration)
- TECH 530 (Facilities Engineering Technology)
