Prime Mover Laboratory
The Prime Mover Laboratory is located in the Mechanical Engineering Building, and is administered by the Mechanical Engineering Department. Its 2,000 square feet will accommodate 12 to 16 students.
The laboratory serves:
- MET 220 (Heat Power I),
- MET 426 (Internal Combustion Engines).
It is equipped with various types of modern internal combustion engines, as well as a broad array of appropriate instrumentation. It has facilities for investigative experiments on engines that include performance testing and analysis. It also includes a completely operative and instrumented diesel engine in a test cell. Adequate equipment is available for studying in depth Otto, Diesel and Brayton cycles, as well as pollution control analysis.
