Robert G. Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund

We are building an endowed scholarship fund for students attending Purdue Univesity's College of Technology at Richmond. Each year, interest from this fund will provide financial support to those meriting such assistance.

Robert G. Phillips (1931-2001)

For nearly two decades, Robert G. Phillips, Professor Emeritus, served the students and the communities of east-central Indiana and west-central Ohio. As a tireless professor and administrator for Purdue University, he helped countless students and businesses achieve their goals. Professor Phillips passed away in January 2001, leaving a legacy of Purdue commitment and Purdue Pride.

Professor Phillips earned his engineering degree from Purdue University in 1953, and completed graduate studies in statistics at Case Western University. He held a number of industrial positions in the Quality Assurance field with Indiana and Ohio employers, including what is now Belden-CDT in Richmond. In 1984, he returned to Purdue full-time as an MET professor, assuming the leadership of the College of Technology at Richmond. Professor Phillips became well known both as an expert in the field of quality and as a professor who cared deeply about his students. The endowed Robert G. Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund is a fitting and lasting tribute to a servent who worked so hard to help so many succeed.
