aircraft engines and develop alternative fuels in work that also aims
to reduce the nation's reliance on imported oil.</p>
<p class="FORMAT-BODY">The National Test Facility for Fuels and
Propulsion is funded with a $1.35 million grant from the U.S. Air Force
and will be housed in the Niswonger Aviation Technology Building at the
Purdue Airport.</p>

Rodney Vandeveer, a professor in Purdue's organizational leadership and supervision department, will lead the workshop.</p>
<p class="FORMAT-BODY">The workshop, "Leadership Is an Attitude," is free and open to the public. Depew, Dean of the College of Technology at Purdue University, will be the guest speaker.</p>]]></description></item><item><guid>http://www.tech.purdue.edu/News_and_Events/news/News_Article/?id=6512</guid><pubDate>Mon, 21 Sep 2009 15:09:00 EDT</pubDate><title>Health IT seminar series available through College of Technology</title><description><![CDATA[<p>The College of Technology will be a host site for a four-seminar series on Health Information Technology.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The Indiana Health Informatics Corporation (IHIC), Indiana Health Industry Forum (IHIF) and the Indiana University Research and Technology Corporation (IURTC) are presenting the series along with supporting partners BioCrossroads and Techpoint. The College of Technology and Purdue&rsquo;s Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering are partnering to make the sessions available in the Lafayette-West Lafayette area.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The seminars will be available via videoconference at 11 locations across the state. Seminar dates are:</p>
<ul>
<li>Monday, September 28, broadcast from Fort Wayne</li>
<li>Tuesday, October 13, broadcast from Indianapolis</li>
<li>Friday, October 30, broadcast from South Bend</li>
<li>Tuesday, November 10, broadcast from Bloomington</li>
</ul>
<p class="MsoNormal">The conference series has three objectives: to provide current information on Indiana&rsquo;s pursuit of stimulus funding for building health IT infrastructure, to provide information on the industry to those interested in working in the sector, and to demonstrate the broad and varied Health Information Exchange networks already in place in Indiana.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">"Ideal participants would include those working in the IT sector in hospitals or physician practices, those working to develop electronic medical record (EMR) and personal health record (PHR) software or systems, and those interested in learning more about working in the sector,&rdquo; says Kristin Jones, interim president, Indiana Health Industry Forum.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">All seminars will run from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. (Eastern time).</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The cost to attend one session is $25 or $90 to attend all four seminars and paying participants must register in advance at <a href="http://www.ihif.org">www.ihif.org</a>. displayed at the Purdue University Airport September 9-10.</p>
<p>The model aircraft will be on display from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00
p.m. each day at the airport terminal.</p>

Chapman Award winner by the <a href="http://www.justiceawards.com">Foundation for Improvement of Justice Inc</a>.</p>
<p>The foundation is recognizing Rogers &ldquo;for the numerous contributions he has made toward enabling federal, state and local law enforcement to better address today&rsquo;s challenges with the use of cyberforensics.&rdquo;</p>
<p>Rogers has designed and led training programs for and continuously provides assistance to local, state, and federal law enforcement officers.</p>
<p>&ldquo;Our nation&rsquo;s ability to fight computer crime has been positively enhanced by the significant contribution Dr. Marcus Rogers has made through his development of programs, teachings, and continuous personal involvement in multiple investigative processes.,&rdquo; says MaLisa McOmber, executive director of the foundation.</p>
<p>Rogers is one of six individuals and organizations who will be honored at a September 26 ceremony in Atlanta, Georgia. The honor comes with a $10,000 award.</p>
<p>The Foundation for Improvement of Justice Inc. is a private, not-for-profit institution founded in 1985 for the purpose of improving local, state, and federal systems of justice within the United States. The foundation encourages improvement by recognizing and rewarding on an an annual basis either individuals or organizations who have accomplished works in one or more of 10 specific judicial arenas.</p>]]></description></item>
