Admissions
Students at South Bend are admitted directly into, and are a part of, the College of Technology. Acceptance as a new student is influenced by many factors. Admission generally is governed by the same criteria applied to students seeking admission to the West Lafayette campus.
How to Apply
The process for applying to the College of Technology at South Bend is similar to the process for applying to West Lafayette, but requires a different application form. We recommend you download this quick reference guide to help you through the application process, then click on the "Application for Admission" link at left to get started.
Quality Requirements
All applicants are evaluated on the basis of quality requirements, which include:
- Class rank
- SAT-I or ACT scores
- Grade Point Average (G.P.A.) in degree-related courses
- Ability to be successful
- Trends in achievement
- Strength of the college preparatory coursework
Subject Matter Requirements - high school and recent graduates (two years or less):
- English – 8 semesters
- Academic Math – 6 semesters
- Laboratory Science – 4 semesters
Beginning Students - out of school less than five years:
Must meet all quality and subject matter requirements above.
Transfer Students - students with coursework from a post-secondary institution:
Must meet minimum subject matter and all quality requirements above for full admission. In addition, students need to meet or submit the following materials:
- G.P.A of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent (Probation status is possible for students with a G.P.A. between 2.0 and 2.5)
- Be in good standing at all schools previously attended
- High school diploma
Non-traditional Students - adults who have been out of high school a minimum of 5 years:
Subject Matter Requirements
- English – 6 semesters
- Academic Math – 4 semesters
- Laboratory Science – 2 semesters
-Applicants must submit a high school diploma or GED.
-Admissions decisions are made on an individual basis, taking into consideration such factors as a student’s work history, military service, high school record, previous academic or vocational coursework, etc.
-If applicant has military service a DD214 (please contact Admissions) must be submitted to the Admissions Office. Up to 8 credit hours will be given for military service.
