REGISTRATION

DON’T WAIT --- REGISTER EARLY!

Early registration is encouraged for the following reasons:

  1. Helps to ensure that students get into the courses they want and not get closed out.
  2. Prevents courses from being cancelled due to low enrollment.
  3. Expedites financial aid disbursement.
  4. Eliminates late fee charges.

NOTE: if you are NOT a current registered student you cannot register until open registration and must make an appointment to meet with the Student Services Coordinator for advising.

HOW TO REGISTER

*Make an appointment to see their advisor or the Student Services Coordinator.

*All students MUST check service indicators (self-service in www.OneStart.iu.edu) PRIOR TO REGISTERING to make sure there are no holds on their record.

*Obtain appointment time by going into www.OneStart.iu.edu under self-service.

*Students can register for classes online via OneStart during their appointment time or anytime after. Please check OneStart and/or the IUSB Registrar’s Office home page (www.iusb.edu) to get accurate information.

Forgot your password for OneStart?

No personnel at Purdue or IUSB are able to provide you with your password. This is for security purposes. If you have forgotten your password you may have your password reset by going to one of the following places:

1. IT Helpdesk in 1245 Weikamp Hall on the IUSB campus.

2. Student One Stop Center located in the Administration Building on the IUSB campus.

HAVING TROUBLE REGISTERING FOR A COURSE

The IU system DOES NOT keep track of the courses Purdue students have taken therefore the system does not know if a prerequisite requirement has been met. If a student gets an error saying that they do not have the prerequisite courses they will have to see the Student Services Coordinator to get permission to add the course. Typical courses in which students have problems are:

Math courses

English

Physics

Upper level speech

Business courses

If you know which courses you need to take you can get permission prior to your registration date. Getting permission DOES NOT guarantee a spot in the class.

COURSE INFORMATION

Course Booklets – Are available in the Purdue Main Office. No course booklets are mailed. All students are Emailed a list of Purdue courses.

Online – Students are encouraged to use the on-line information in OneStart as it is more accurate than the course booklet. Please be aware that course information is subject to change.

GRADUATING

Do not forget to register for CAND 991. This is a zero credit hour course that flags the system so your record can be audited for completion of degree requirements.

IMPORTANT COURSE SCHEDULING DATES

Check the Calendar on the South Bend website or contact the Main Office, 107 Purdue Technology Building, 574-520-4180.

FEE DEFERMENTS

Fee deferments MUST be completed every semester for students on Financial Aid or any other type of aid (this includes vouchers, scholarships, etc.). Forms can be obtained from the Main Office, Room 107 in the Purdue Technology Building. Please remember to bring 1) your detailed bill from IUSB and 2) your award letter (can be obtained from SSINFO). For more information on fee deferments please go to Student Services and scroll down to fee deferments.

PAPERLESS BILLING

Beginning fall 2006 the IUSB Bursar’s Office switched to paperless billing. Not receiving a bill from IUSB in the US Mail is no excuse to not pay your bill. You can check the amount you owe by going to OneStart, logging in, and clicking on Bursar/Billing. Purdue tuition can be paid to IUSB up until the end of the 4th week of classes. After the 4th week of classes Purdue students can only pay what they owe IUSB (student activity and parking fees). We would appreciate students paying their tuition bill within the first four weeks of classes.
