Setting up your Purdue E-mail Account

We strongly recommend that all students set up their Purdue E-mail account. This is particularly important for students with financial aid, as this is how Financial Aid in West Lafayette communicates with students. As well, other entities in West Lafayette utilize E-mail to communicate with all students.

Directions on how to set up your Purdue E-mail account:

1. Go to: http://directory.purdue.edu

2. Click on "Lookup"

3. Type your first and last name in the appropriate box

4. Select "Statewide Technology Program" under "Restrict Search by Campus and Classification"

5. Click on "Send Query"

6. Click on "More" to get alias. Make sure you write this down

7. Click the BACK arrow on your browser

8. Click the "Edit" button on the right column

9. Enter your username and password

10. Click "Ok"
    
    Note: This is the same password that your created in SSINFO (you have been assigned a temporary password that is available in the Main Office, 107 Purdue Technology Building that you need to reset to activate your SSINFO account)
    
    Note: It may take a few minutes for the password information to get through the system. If your password does not work right away, give it a few minutes and then try again.

11. Scroll to the bottom of the list to the "service" field and click "change service"

12. If you want to use Purdue web mail select "store" and click "ok", BUT if you wish to forward your e-mail account to a different e-mail address, then click "forward" and enter the address you wish it to be forwarded. NOTE: if you forward your e-mail, you will not be able to check your Purdue e-mail account on webmail. You will only be able to check it to the forwarded e-mail account .

13. When you see the screen with a stop light and the green light is on, then the information has been changed correctly.

14. Click "ok"

Your E-mail address will be:

username@purdue.edu

Please remember your password

To check E-mail by using webmail

1. Go to: http//webmail.purdue.edu

2. Login with the same username and password as before (same as SSINFO)

3. You will see an inbox
